Commission on Evangelism and Growth

Members:

9 members:  One of whom is elected from among the commission members to serve as moderator. In accordance with the Book of Order G-9.0504b, shall be composed of ministers of the Word and Sacrament and elders in numbers as nearly equal as possible.

Responsibilities:

In consultation with the Mission Visioning Council, this committee will seek to support the Presbytery's vision by:

  • Resourcing congregations for growth.
  • Assisting congregations in reaching younger generations.
  • Publicizing, to each session, of training events on church growth.
  • Providing support and oversight for new ministry probes.

Note: This committee is expected to use Task Groups to fulfill the responsibilities listed.

Resources for Revitalization and Renewal for Eastminster's Churches

  • The Acts 16:5 Initiative: A Two Year Process for Congregational Transformation.
    • Thirteen churches in Eastminster Presbytery have been meeting with the Rev. E. Stanley Ott to explore what it means to grow disciples in their congregations. While the process with Rev. Ott will end in November, the Evangelism and Growth Commission will be happy to invite churches who haven't experienced the Acts 16:5 Initiative to meet with them and to learn together.
    • The Commission on Evangelism and Growth also partners with congregations to promote growth in other ways. Contact the Presbytery Center at info@faithfulness.com for ideas and information.
  • Act as a resource for New Church Developments.
    • The Common Ground Church Community is an example of a new church development in action. Click on the link above to learn more about this vital and growing church community.
    • To help groups discern when our Lord is calling us to initiate the development of a new church.
